The Muppets Movie – a Generational review.
I took the kids to the Muppets Movie this afternoon. If there was ever a case of “Generation Gap”, this was it. I thoroughly enjoyed it and all of the cute 80′s references. The smaller kids in the theatre screeched with delight at every Kermit/Ms. Piggy/Fozzy Bear joke. My boys (8 & 10) were less than thrilled, and the ten year old pronounced that all of the singing was “annoying”.
If you grew up with The Muppets, you’ll find the even more endearing now than you did in your youth. Jason Segel plays a fantastic human foil to Kermit, Piggy, et. al. The love story between Jason and Amy Adams is tender, funny and appropriately starry eyed. Kermit and Miss Piggy, on the other hand, have a far more intemperate affair. They range back and forth from sweet to homicidal.
If you’ve got young kids, go see it. Highly recommended.
If you’re a product of the 1976-1988 time frame, REALLY go see it. Highly recommended, almost mandatory.
If you’re from the 90′s, I’d say see it if you’ve got a good attitude for whimsy.

New stuff
Oriental rugs, dining room, living room, tons of Christmas stuff. We’ve spent more in the past few months than I can ever remember short of buying the house! But, we’re fully furnished and carpeted now. So, at least that’s good news.

Another Christmas gone
Another successful Christmas in the books. 4 parties, all at different places and with very different vibes. The kids had a good time, though Stephen was less than happy about not getting a PS when Matthew did. He got over it though. He likes the Tony Hawk Ride.
We may go to the beach for tomorrow night, just to pass the time. I’m off until 1/4/10, and not sure how we’re going to fill the days.
